Marijuana use, social and moral values over the past decade have fluctuate between good and bad. Media and the government both have had a major effect on the fluctuation. The government lies to American society about the “truths” as they call it on marijuana use. While researching I found a government site that claimed “If your kids are smoking marijuana they are doing heroin.”. This is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard, the real reason the government displays false information to the public is because the “black market” for marijuana is so widespread, to be able to gain control would be nearly impossible. Therefore, the government could not charge a tax, like on tobacco in which, they profit from. That is the real reason marijuana is illegal, it is purely about control and money which the government of our great nation is fueled by, and lies too can’t forget that. With most anti-marijuana mass media production supported by the government, the contents are laced with false and misleading information. Think about it, why would a system fueled by control and money support something they can not control nor make a profit from. Trusting the government about any information concerning the “truth” of marijuana effects on the body, is like trusting a used car salesman. Unfortunately, social and moral values of society then are skewed from viewing these corrupt productions. I was reading the other day and came across something very interesting, I read an article that was disscussing marijuana cultivation plantations that are ran by the government. They claim this to be used for medical marijuana, however they also claim marijuana to be so harmful and mind altering it can not be legal yet they can grow it. It also is illegal for another person in the U.S. to cultivate marijuana. Once again this comes back to control and money, if grown by the government they have complete control over the sale of this “illegal drug”. I do believe that one day marijuana will be legal once the government feels they have a tight enough grip around the trafficking and cultivation. Then they will rape us, taxing the sale of marijuana just as they do cigarettes. The government is not concerned about our safety, health, or well being the only thing they care about are two things, control and money. As long as they make enough money to keep buying guns for their stupid war then nothing else matters. On an upside however, the government anti-marijuana productions and productions for the legalization of marijuana seem to be battling for mainstream. Music, movies, websites, organizations, even t-shirts have become a mass media influence for both. Organizations for the legalization of marijuana are very easy to find and join. A pro marijuana movement is on the rise, the up and coming generation finds this to be an important topic. Many topics surrounding the use of marijuana are being brought up to the candidates running in the up coming election. Some states out west have already passed laws which allows the use of medical marijuana. Some states have even passed a law not charging any criminal charges against anyone caught with under one ounce of marijuana. The future generation is causing quite a shift in the social and moral views of marijuana use. The amount of supporters for marijuana use is almost equal to those who oppose. If I will ever see the day when marijuana will be legal in the U.S. is questionable. The day that people could freely walk down the street and smoke marijuana would be a good day.
